Depite all adoration for the beach and being so close to the sea, sand does not normally allow for the most mobile of experiences in a wheelchair. Here I delighted that in the wet sand, I could manage traversing the beach by myself. I filled the pockets of my coat with sand dollars, followed the footprints of some sea-friendly bird and sat in the setting sun and allowed the tide to roll in beneath me. Lulled by waves, little did I realize I’d been swallowed by the sea.
